His journey has taken him from the halls of Monterey to the classrooms at Vanderbilt and Yale. Jamin Speer’s story is beyond remarkable. He achieved a perfect score on his SAT, followed by a degree at Vanderbilt. And now? He’s completing his Ph.D. in economics at Yale University. Jamin credits his success to his State Championship in the Academic Decathlon, a program found only in the Lubbock Independent School District. Jamin attended Honey Elementary School, Evans Middle School and Monterey High School.
